PROJECT DETAILS

Project: Villa Utopia

Year: 2024

Location: Ugljan

Status: Finished

This project on the island of Ugljan is an example of contemporary landscape planning that skillfully blends the functionality and aesthetics of the Mediterranean climate. The conceptual design encompasses a wide range of plant species, from indigenous olives and lavender to exotic accents such as eucalyptus and various types of palms in terracotta pots. The design follows the architecture of the building, creating logical transitions between sports zones, such as the basketball court, and intimate parts of the garden intended for relaxation under the shade of fruitless mulberry trees.

Special emphasis is placed on the vertical structure of the garden through an alley of Mediterranean cypresses (Cupressus sempervirens 'Pyramidalis'), which ensures privacy and defines the boundaries of the plot, while photinia hedges introduce color dynamics with their distinctive red leaves.

The systematic use of crushed stone in combination with rich garden beds creates visual harmony and simplifies garden maintenance. The beds are filled with a blend of fragrant lavender, santolina, and gaura, while climbing plants like star jasmine on wire cables gradually green the walls, creating a fragrant barrier and additional visual delight.

Every plant element has been carefully selected to withstand the island climate and provide an attractive appearance throughout the year. From sculptural yuccas and cycas palms to lush oleander shrubs, this garden offers a wealth of textures and colors that perfectly complement the modern architectural design of the family home.
